In many patients, excess fat is noted under the chin and at the jawline. Liposuction may be utilized to improve this area, sculpting a thinner-looking jawline and removing the double chin.
Neck and Chin Liposuction Procedure Details
Neck and chin liposuction can be performed in a day surgery procedure in an operating suite. The procedure typically only uses injected local anesthesia, but sometimes may require twilight sedation or general anesthesia. During your consultation with Dr. Reitzen, she will go into more detail about what type of anesthesia will be used for your case.
For chin and neck liposuction, Dr. Reitzen will create tiny incisions within the natural creases of the skin under the chin or behind the earlobes. A small, thin tube (a cannula) will then be inserted into these incisions to break up and suction excess fatty tissue out of the areas. Once the appropriate amount of fat has been removed, Dr. Reitzen will carefully suture the incisions, which heal to be nearly invisible.
